The Bulletin's "Bike the wilderness" editorial (Sept. 19) claims that "bicycles fit between those guardrails" of the Wilderness Act of 1964 that provides, among other things, for "outstanding opportunities for - a primitive - type of recreation" (Sec. 2c), and that prohibits, among other things, "mechanical transport" (Sec. 4c) within units of the National Wilderness Preservation System
